The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Abia State Chapter, at its 1st Emergency Executive Meeting held on 10th June 2026, deliberated extensively on matters arising from the recently concluded primary elections in Abia State and resolved as follows:
1. Party Supremacy: The SWC reaffirms its total and unflinching alignment with the resolution of the National Executive Committee adopted at the 2nd NEC Meeting of 3rd June, 2026, which declared that _“The Party is Supreme”_. Accordingly, all organs, caucuses, and individuals within Abia State shall function only under the authority, hierarchy, and directives of the constitutionally recognized leadership of the NDC.
2. Condemnation and Rejection of Fraudulent Primaries Report; The SWC unequivocally condemns and rejects in its entirety* the so-called primaries report submitted by Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji.
The said report is a fraudulent scam, a deliberate fabrication, and a brazen act of impersonation that bears no legitimacy. It violates the NDC Constitution, Electoral Guidelines, and the democratic ethos of our party. It is hereby declared null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.
Conversely, the SWC fully adopts and upholds the authentic result of the primary elections as submitted by Hon. Udeme Essiet, Secretary, and other members of the Primary Electoral Committee officially deployed by the National Headquarters. This is the only lawful and binding result because it was:
• Collated and attested to by all Returning Officers duly appointed by the party;
• Conducted in full compliance with the NDC Constitution and Guidelines.
• Duly monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abia State.
• Witnessed by the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) across all 17 Local Government Areas.
This result reflects the true position and democratic will of NDC members in Abia State, and tallies with independent reports collated by INEC and security agencies that monitored the exercise.
3.Vote of Confidence and Loyalty: The SWC passes an unreserved vote of confidence in the State Chairman, Chief Ako Atulomah and further reaffirms its absolute loyalty to the National Leader, H.E. Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson, the National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas, and the entire National Working Committee.
The SWC remains committed to peace, internal democracy, and constructive engagement, but will not condone any attempt to subvert the will of our members.
4. Disclaimer of Illegal Abuja Meeting: The SWC totally dissociates itself from the purported meeting held with aspirants at Britarch Schools, Lugbe, Abuja, and repudiates all resolutions or outcomes emanating therefrom. The said gathering was illegal, unauthorized, and does not represent the position of the NDC Abia State Chapter.
This Communiqué is issued for the attention of the National Leadership, all party members, stakeholders, and the general public.
