The Supreme Court has overturned the Court of Appeal’s judgment that acknowledged Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In a unanimous decision on Friday, the five-member panel determined that the Court of Appeal did not have the jurisdiction to declare Abure as National Chairman, emphasizing that the leadership dispute was an internal matter for the party.
The court granted the appeal brought by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and another party, ruling it as valid. Additionally, it dismissed the cross-appeal from the Abure faction of the LP, citing it as unmeritorious.
